Summer Rock Project 2019 Rock site #2: Margate Bay

We scoped out 3 potential entry / exit spots at Margate Bay and settled on one a little further away, but one that offered a wide mouth and super easy entry.

Our second rock spot was Margate Bay. We searched 3 different entry spots. The first one was complicated with too big of a drop. The second one was easier, however fire coral was spotted right at the entry. It was clear the fire coral had been damaged a bit by divers, but we were wondering which was damaged worse, the divers or the coral. Finally, Derek located a wide mouth entry that was much easier to navigate, the problem, it was a little further away from the parking lot. We weren't certain people would choose to walk that far, but the ease of entry was so much easier than the other two, that we opted to go with that one. So, we moved some large rocks, created a path, raked the sand and coral back, and placed our yellow rocks strategically. We were fortunate enough to have some potential divers come after we were done so we were able to assess how our path worked. Lesson learned: place the primary yellow rock in a VERY obvious place. The divers walked right past our first rock which was tucked next to the mangroves. So we extended our path a bit, built up a stack of large stones and placed the primary yellow rock where it couldn't be missed!
